See this thread: Madonna's "Thought Provoking" Lyrics
If she gets into this over someone like Cyndi Lauper or the other nominees, I will seriously lose it.
Madonna does not deserve a place in the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Madonna, Led Zeppelin Among Songwriters Hall of Fame Nominees
The comments by the fans are also very uneducated.
Are they seriously mentioning songs that she didn't write as proof of her "song-writing"? Lol.
Because it is so hard to write a song about se.x and sing-talk. And it was Ingrid Chavez who did the sing-talk voice in the "Justify My Love" demo that Madonna later decided to use, without crediting her.
Here we go. The usual crap of trying to use album sales and chart stats as "evidence" to justify her "talent".
Madonna did not write a lot of the songs these fans mentioned. Lol.
And even the ones she did write (supposedly) have terrible lyrics.
The song "Ray of Light" was written in the 70's (I believe) and the lyrics are identical with the 1998-version. Madonna added nothing new to the song. Yes, the primary song-writer is listed first but this shows what a greedy, pretentious person she is. She did nothing yet her name has to go first? Wonder how much she had to pay the other songwriters to keep their mouths shut about her basically doing no work on that song?

Madonna, Led Zeppelin Among Songwriters Hall of Fame Nominees
Madonna and Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page and Robert Plant are among this year's nominees for the Songwriters Hall of Fame, along with Kinks leader Ray Davis, John Mellencamp, Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart and Nile Rodgers, The Associated Press reports. Sade, Cyndi Lauper and Linda Perry are also up for the 2014 class of inductees.
Other nominees for this year include Jim Weatherly and William "Mickey" Stevenson in the nonperforming songwriter category, and Dan Penn and Spooner Oldham for writing duos. "Always on My Mind" writer Mark James is also among this year's nominees with Don Robertson, Graham Gouldman and Tony Macaulay.
Last year's inductees included Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, as well as Mick Jones and Lou Gramm from Foreigner.
Eligible voters have until December 16th to pick two nominees from the songwriter-performer list and three from the nonperformer list. The 2014 Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction will be held at the New York Marriott Marquis on June 12th.

Madonna is one of the best songwriters of the last 30 years ,not just as a writer but as producer. She never gets the credit she deserves . people think she is not a good singer because she doesn't scream like Mariah boring Carey or Celine Horrible Dion. The only problem with Madonna is that she gets vulgar and she is 55 and it's not cute or necessary.
Non commercial best Madonna's songs:
SECRET GARDEN, WAITING, EROTICA, WORDS, BAD GIRL,THE WHOLE AMERICAN LIFE ALBUM,SANCTUARY, BEDTIME STORY,INSIDE OF ME, BITTERSWEET( music written by her not lyrics) she wrote or co- wrote all these cult songs and the list goes on and on

Of all those acts, Madonna is the only one to have amassed 38 top 10 hits in the Billboard Hot100...She deserves it, the others haven't had a hit in decades....

Then you have not listened to her music.

Spanish Eye's
X-stactic Process

Stairway to Heaven is one of my favourite songs, but just because it has a theoretical and pseudo notion behind it, does not make it any more powerful than direct songs. Theres always been this misconception that songs with either deep dark lyrics, or with theoretical confusing lyrics with a rock genre are ''better''.
I personally dont agree

Just have to agree to disagree.

Madonna did not write Ray Of Light. She produced it along with Orbit but it is actually based on an old song called Zephyr.
Saying that she wrote all the melodies and lyrics for Confessions On The Dancefloor; she co produced it as well and that's an amazing album.
Hopefully she'll get inducted this year. : )

Ray Of Light was written by Madonna, William Orbit, Clive Muldoon, Dave Curtiss and Christine Leach, and was produced by Madonna and Orbit. The name listed first is the primary song writer.and is based on Curtiss Maldoon's "Sepheryn". Which is why Dave Curtiss is listed in the credits based on his contribution.
