Gaga introduces ARTPOP
Singer overhypes new album and dismisses other artists who have come with the app-album before her
Two weeks ago, we said Lady Gaga was about to introduce her new material when she appeared at the gay pride rally in NYC (she was there pandering to the LGBT community again). We hate to say it (no, we don’t), but we told you so!
Today, Lady Gaga officially announced the release dates for her new single and new album. She also announced the day it will go on pre-sale, and talked about her groundbreaking (LOL) app-album.
As expected, Lady Gaga overhyped her new material and herself: she put herself in the same category as Warhol, and even said she was “reversing" the direction of his art (!).
Also, being the manipulative, dismissing bitch she is, she pretended Bjork’s Biophilia and Bluebrain’s The National Mall (the very first app-album in history) ever existed. Gaga presented “ARTPOP" as a groundbreaking invention that is going to change the history of music.
Try not to vomit while reading ARTPOP’s official press release:
Clueless Gaga
“we bring ARTculture into the POP in a reverse Warholian expedition.”
Excuse me, but does Lady Gaga even know what the concept of Pop Art is?
I guess not.
We could simplify the concept of Pop Art as bringing popular culture ("POP") into the art scene ("ARTculture").
That’s what Andy Warhol did with his work: he took popular constructs and presented them as pieces of art, claiming their artistic value in the art world. But, now, Gaga thinks she is doing something new by reversing it.
Doesn’t she know that Pop Art already is the inversion of the norm in traditional art?
Doesn’t she know that the role of Pop Art was to challange the direction and approach taken by traditional artists and how they presented art to the world?
I guess not.
Poor, lame Gaga thinks she is being “creative" by reversing the basic concept of “Pop Art". She probably even thought she was being a "genius" when she decided to invert the order of the words “Pop Art" to create the name of her album.
That’s how simplistic Lady Gaga is. And that’s how simplistic this concept of a "reverse Warholian expedition" is. The poor thing… going back to the traditional “top-down" norm in art, thinking she is creating something new. But, yup! That’s what this press release states, she is "bringing the music industry into a new age, an age where art drives pop.”
Did we mention that Bjork released an app-album, Biophilia, in 2011? Two years before Gaga? Yeah… Gaga forgot about it. She forgot about Bluebrain’s The National Mall too. So she thinks her app will change the music industry. So creative! So original!
Oh, and speaking of originality, is this goggle/visor a new ARTPOP creation? As new as that fiber optic wig she introduced to the world as her “invention"?
I guess not. When it comes to Lady Gaga, it’s always a big "WE HAVE SEEN IT ALL BEFORE" moment.
Has anybody heard of MUNICH MACHINE introducing Chris Bennett?
Lady Gaga certainly has!
Or maybe she hasn’t. Maybe she was inspired by Whitney Houston.
Oh, yeah! I forgot! Visually, Lady Gaga is “inspired by no one."
”Munich Machine" has three albums released under this name, but the musician behind it was electronic disco genius, Giorgio Moroder.
Thanks Raugustto and Robert for the contribution.
